The most important step for the Finnish companies entering the Japanese market is to find the Japanese partners. This is a common challenge in any industry. Especially in the food industry, where various regulations and laws are involved, finding the partners is even more important step. Unfortunately, Finnish industries and products are less well known in Japan than those of UK, US and other major countries, which puts Finnish companies at the big disadvantage for looking for the partners. Even after the Finnish company finds the Japanese partner, the low awareness of Finnish products is a major barrier of market entry. In the competitive Japanese market, it is very important to make the company and products known to various players.

One of the most effective ways to collect eyes on the Finnish food companies and the products is to exhibit at a trade fair held in Japan. Among the food-related trade fairs held in Japan, FOODEX is the most recommended one. FOODEX is one of the largest food and beverage exhibitions in Asia. FOODEX has been held since 1976 and is a historic trade fair that will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025. 3,000 companies from over 60 countries exhibit at the event with approximately 80,000 registered visitors.

At the Finland Pavilion at FOODEX, many Finnish companies have been finding Japanese partners and developed new sales channel after the market entry.

We, the FOODEX Finland Pavilion team, organize the Finland Pavilion and help the exhibiting Finnish companies enter the Japanese market. We will support Finnish companies by utilizing our experience of being involved with FOODEX for over 20 years
